GL Accountant

 

Honey Stinger seeks to fill the position of GL Accountant based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The GL Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting to ensure data accuracy, analyze financial information, reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and support the monthly and annual close processes. This role reports to the Controller.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

•       Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
•      Reconcile monthly bank statements and intercompany accounts
•      Responsible for the company’s domestic and international accounts payable by processing invoices, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining good vendor relationships
•      Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
•      Ensure adherence to companies accounting operations; submit recommendations for improving processes
•      Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries
•      Reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
•      Process and reconcile company credit card expense reports and manage receipt storage
•      Monitor and reconcile daily bank balances related to internal and external accounts
•      Prepare annual 1099 reports for vendors
•      Manage fixed asset accounting
•      Oversee the management of the company’s unclaimed property in compliance with state regulations
•      Report use tax when applicable according to State and Local tax regulations
•      Assist in preparing requested information during annual audits and reviews
•      Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing requested assignments as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

•       Working knowledge of GAAP, accounting basics
•       Advanced Excel skills and proficient in Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
•       Experience with NetSuite (or other similar ERP/SAAS system)
•       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
•       Possesses excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills as well as acts with a sense of urgency
•       Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and then implement new procedures and systems as deemed appropriate
•       Excellent time management skills with the ability to work within given deadlines
•       Self-motivated with the ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one’s ability using one’s own drive or initiative
•      Ability to work well in a team-based environment

Education and Experience:

•  B.S. in Accounting
• 2-3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred but not required, with a mid-size ($10-50M) company or division of a large company
• Netsuite experience preferred but not required if experienced in a similar ERP

Salary Range: $55,000 - $68,000 / annually
