PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Camp Intern role will provide planning, operations, and marketing support at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. This role is expected to take a hands-on approach to working with a startup hospitality business, by helping to establish the brand, contribute to business strategy, assist in operations, participate in marketing efforts, and take on project specific responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Essential and other important responsibilities and duties include without limitation using discretion, and independent judgment, in performance of work directly related to the management, or general business operations of Campfire Ranch, such as the following:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in all aspects of customer service onsite.
  • Support the execution of onsite events, group experiences and adventure concierge bookings.
  • Execute all risk management procedures as defined by Campfire Ranch managers.
  • Support business relationships with service providers and advisors.
  • Assist in building the brand through various marketing channels.
  • Develop and gather insights about Campfire Ranch customers.
  • Represent the Campfire Ranch brand in a positive and welcoming manner when meeting with customers, public, vendors & internal stakeholders.
  • Uphold a work-hard, play-hard mentality alongside the entire Campfire Ranch team.
  • Provide direction and insight to the leadership team regarding hospitality on a regular basis. 

 

WEEKLY TASKS INCLUDE:

  • Guest customer service onsite, online and over the phone.
  • Cleaning and upkeep of the property.
  • Executing social media marketing posts, email campaigns and blog posts.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the Campspot CRM property management portal for our team and customers.
  • Assisting guests in renting demo equipment and setup/strike of equipment.
  • Assisting guest in retail sales of gear and merchandise onsite and online.
  • Assisting in planning adventures for guests through local Adventure Concierge partners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to successfully support customer relationships, from start to finish, related to the outdoor industry, hospitality, guiding/outfitting, concierge services or events.
  • Superb organization, planning and attention to detail. 
  • Experience working in rural, remote, and outdoor settings, preferably with participant focused experiences, events, and hospitality. 
  • Experience working as part of a team alongside all levels of employees. 
  • Patience and thoughtfulness in discerning customer abilities, needs and comfort.
  • Exhibit creative thinking to solve problems and overcome obstacles. 
  • Actively enrolled in undergraduate degree program or recently graduated.
  • Work experience in the outdoor or hospitality industry preferred. 

ROLE SPECIFICS:

  • Start date: May 6, 2024 (flexible)
  • End date: October 11, 2024 (flexible)
  • Compensation: non-exempt employee, paid hourly at $17.50/hr starting rate, to receive paychecks on the 1st and 15th of each month.
  • Bonus structure: not eligible for bonuses
  • Benefits:
    • Discounted friends and family stays at Campfire Ranch locations.
    • Industry discounts with partner outdoor brands.
    • Health insurance not provided.
    • Work Schedule: seasonal, full-time, expected to work an average of 40hrs/week, but subject to change.
    • Mileage: to be reimbursed for longer business trips outside of the Gunnison-Crested Butte Valley, with prior approval.
  • Expenses: to be reimbursed via documented receipts for all approved business-related purchases.
  • Location: based onsite at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor (12mi to Gunnison, CO and 17mi to Crested Butte, CO). 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; all lifts greater than 25 pounds require assistance from a co-worker.
  • Able to sit and talk or listen for extended periods of time. 
  • Observe and respond to emergency situations in a calm manner.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. 
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles including but not limited to automobiles and off-highway vehicles.
  • Required to walk on varied & uneven surfaces, operate a motor vehicle (position contingent), hand tools and small power tools.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision. 
  • Ability to be outdoors and in weather conditions without shelter for moderate periods of time.

  • Travel required: locally 80% (<1hr drive time), 20% in office.

  • Various social media channels, not limited to but including: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube, Pinterest & Linkedin.

WORK CONDITIONS:  

The majority of this person’s duties are performed in an outdoor environment.  The incumbent may be exposed to electrical, mechanical or human noise on a regular basis, and other related interactions associated with a camp environment serving a diverse clientele of customers, partners and vendors.
