The Outdoor Industry Jobs Marketplace

About OutdoorIndustryJobs.com

Who We Are

OutdoorIndustryJobs.com was founded in December of 2005 by Laurel King with a simple mission: to enable employers and job seekers in the fragmented outdoor industry to connect and network. The platform spans many sub-industries: Outdoors, Bicycle, Snow Sports, Action Sports, Fitness, Fishing and Hunting. For almost 20 years Laurel built the company, growing the job seeker database organically to over 150,000 outdoor enthusiasts, and establishing relationships with thousands of employers of all sizes in the industry.

In March of 2023, she sold the business and passed on the legacy to myself, Joel Stanley, and my business partner, Simon Wilson. We want to preserve what makes OutdoorIndustryJobs.com special: an undiluted network of outdoor enthusiasts that are a cultural fit for any outdoor company, a vast network of employers that are a "Who's Who" of the outdoor industry, and a straightforward approach to connecting the two.

As new business owners, we also have big aspirations for the future. First and foremost, we want to improve the performance and functionality of the website - to streamline the job posting process, create better reporting for employers, and equip job seekers with useful tools / information for their job search. We also want to create more customized and "hands-on" services for employers - to make it as easy as possible for a recruiter or business manager to find a cultural fit for their company. We want to create a more cohesive community, including a bigger footprint at the major outdoor gatherings like Outdoor Retailer, Shot Show, Sea Otter Classic, and many more. Over the next couple of years, we will be talking with many of our customers to discover their needs and build useful solutions.

Working through the ownership transition with Laurel taught us many important things, including our value proposition. If you've ever posted a job on LinkedIn or Indeed, you are probably familiar with the drawbacks - hundreds or thousands of applications, many of which are spam, and most of which are not a cultural fit for your company. It can be time consuming and energy draining to wade through. Using our platform, you will not get hundreds of applicants - far less in fact - but they will be quality candidates that are enthusiastic about the outdoors. And if you have any trouble, you can call, text or email and expect a response that day.

If you've ever looked for a job in the outdoor industry, you might have a similar issue - too many jobs, no ability to target the outdoor industry, and no way to distinguish yourself as a qualified applicant. With OutdoorIndustryJobs.com, the applicant pool is smaller, helping you stand out to prospective employers. Every job posted on our site will be in the outdoor industry - in fact, if a non-outdoor company posts, we will remove it and give them their money back. And if you have trouble - call, text or email - we are actual humans that love the outdoors and want to help you find your passion.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading and using our website. Contact us if you need anything, and if not, we hope to catch you in the great outdoors.
