Company Description

Gallatin Alpine Sports is a ski and bike shop that opened in beautiful Big Sky, Montana, in 1995. Gallatin is the name of the the county, the National Forest, the river and the mountain range in our area which is 17 miles north of the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. We have one location where in the winter we have an awesome staff of ten people and about half of that during the summer.  We have a coffee bar in the shop.  Most of our market is tourists; Big Sky has a base population of about 1100 people. The closest biggest town is Bozeman, Montana, with about 44,000 people 50 miles north of Big Sky.  We have two off-seasons or shoulder seasons: mid-April to Memorial Weekend and from the first of October to the beginning of Thanksgiving week.  The rest of the year we are open seven days a week; during these shoulder seasons we are open five days a week.  We live and work in an amazing playground with the Big Sky ski area for downhill skiing and 90 kilometers of locally groomed Nordic trails for cross-country skiing.  Depending on the employee's length of stay and hours, one usually receives a free pass to both.  In the summer one has the opportunity to take advantage of the surrounding Gallatin National Forest which is 1.8 million acres and has plenty of trails to hike and bike and camp and watch the wildlife.  We're always looking for high energy, active staff regardless of knowledge with the products that have an interest in helping customers and their families enjoy the outdoors.  We're always looking for those employees with initiative and ideas of how Gallatin Alpine Sports can better serve its market and customers.  We welcome any applicants with or without retail experience, for anyone that enjoys communicating with people the retail knowledge can be second, for customers generally know when salespeople are genuine with their interest.  Lastly, living in the mountains and working with similar people can be an incredible reward for health and quality of life.
