PlayNorthwest – Territory Sales Representative
The Territory Sales Representative with PlayNorthwest is responsible for all aspects of territory account management, including business planning, sales presentations, order management, retailer staff training, and attending customer and consumer events. The focus is on providing exceptional customer service that builds lasting business relationships and supports the success of our brands and retailers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in outdoor industry sales, buying, or retail management. They will have exceptional communication and presentation skills, along with the ability to engage with retail owners, employees, brand professionals, and consumers. A passion for the outdoors and participation in core activities such as hiking, snow sports, watersports, biking, and running is required. They will also be a team player—ready to offer help to colleagues and seek assistance when needed.

Responsibilities Include:
- Schedule and execute sales presentations in person or virtually, tailoring format to account preference
- Attend applicable regional and national trade shows to present lines, build relationships, and participate in planning, preparation, setup, and teardown
- Prospect, establish, and develop new accounts in the WA and Northern ID territory
- Forecast future sales goals and create strategies to meet those goals in alignment with brand and PlayNorthwest objectives
- Collect orders and submit to brand vendors promptly
- Submit quarterly sales and booking summaries for review
- Travel the territory to visit each account a minimum of four times per year
- Schedule and conduct ongoing in-store and virtual training for retail staff
- Service cross-territorial accounts and submit timely service reports
- Maintain and organize sample sets; assist with overall sample room organization
- Monitor expenses and submit monthly expense reports
- Support retailers and vendors at local and regional consumer events
- Monitor sell-through of current inventory and partner with retailers to ensure strong seasonal performance
- Promptly communicate any account issues to PlayNorthwest leadership for timely resolution
Qualifications we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or equivalent experience
- 3+ years’ experience in outdoor retail, sales, or buying (agency experience preferred)
- Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of people, including business owners, buyers, managers, floor staff, customer service reps, and fellow sales reps
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, Powerpoint and Word, and the ability to learn vendor-provided business tools
- Knowledge of and active participation in outdoor activities such as hiking, snow sports, watersports, biking, and running
- Willingness to travel extensively within WA and Northern ID, with occasional multi-day trips
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours during seasonal peaks, deadlines, or events
