E-Bike Service Technician
Job Summary:
Maintain, repair, and assemble electric bicycles (e-bikes). This front-facing role requires mechanical execution combined with exceptional customer communication to explain technical issues clearly. Will train right acoustic bicycle mechanic in working with ebike systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repair: Perform symptom-based mechanical and electrical diagnostics on e-bike systems (will train on electrical). Troubleshoot batteries, hub/mid-drive motors, controllers, wiring harnesses, and displays.
- Mechanical Service: Execute precise maintenance on hydraulic disc brake systems, heavy-duty e-bike drivetrains, internal cable routing, and suspension components.
- New Bike Assembly: Efficiently build out and tune incoming e-bike inventory to exact safety standards and torque specifications.
- Customer Communication: Assess bicycle issues, and explain technical problems and necessary repairs in clear, accessible language that customers can understand.
- Service Recording: Log hours and service details into the shop’s POS or service tracking software.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 0-5+ years of professional bicycle shop experience. Prior experience with major e-bike systems (e.g., Bosch, Shimano, Aventon, Velotric) a plus but not required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and translate complex technical issues into simple terms for everyday riders.
- Technical Proficiency: Fluent with bike-specific hand tools and familiarity with bicycle parts.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift and maneuver with a lifting partner and stand frequently while working on electric cargo and commuter bikes, some weighing up to 75 lbs.
- Hours: Part-time to start; Wednesday - Saturday, 11 AM - 5 PM. On occasion, a few more hours than that possible, particularly if you want them. More hours/full-time hours to be available in the future as we grow.
