Job Summary

The Handwork Technician is responsible to complete all post machining processes to prepare parts for plating or assembly by deburring, tumbling and various other mechanical or chemical processes as defined by Engineering and Senior Director of Operations.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Deburr, tumble and clean parts as determined by Lead and Supervisors on Daily Lists
  • Run Tumbler, MagSpinner, Parts Dishwasher, Centrifuge, Vibratory Tumbler and any other necessary machinery
  • Cleans and maintains machinery with assistance from Plant Services
  • Communicates to Lead/Supervisor when tools/equipment are working improperly
  • Communicates to Lead/Supervisor when parts Quality/Design is in question
  • Completes Cycle Counts
  • Completes Semi and Annual Inventory Counts
  • Counts and records Monthly Scrap
  • Completes and records Daily Reports
  • Participate in department and company meetings.
  • Taking information back to their workstation to implement any new or changed procedures.
  • Assist with SOP reviews, job training, and implementation of all procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding new hires to ensure they learn process correctly, know where to locate SOPs for the job at hand, and to develop a strong partnership amongst the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills & Expectations

  • Dexterous with small components, hand tools and simple power tools
  • Learn and replicate all necessary handwork processes for current models based on engineering
  • Determine when, where and how to deburr a part most efficiently and effectively
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge
  • Maintain a high attention to detail while completing repetitive tasks
  • Work safely and efficiently in a group environment
  • Perform basic quality assurance
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues, management, engineers and others
  • Lift and handle up to 50lbs infrequently
  • Sit at a fixed position for considerable periods of time
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Team player comfortable working in a fast-paced, variable environment
  • Computer literacy in common software suites such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite Apps and ability to adequately learn additional software as necessary to individual responsibilities
  • Implement continuous improvements and company initiatives

  • Work in a safe, clean and healthy manner that complies with all applicable OSHA standards

 

Environment

  • Facility location is a climate-controlled environment with great lighting conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noises and the potential for airborne metal or coolant residue exist.

 

The Physical Requirements

  • This position requires sitting for extended periods of time while looking down during certain job duties.
  • This position requires caring and standing while working with certain equipment during certain job duties.
  • Ability to grip small deburring tools with a steady hand
  • Must be able to lift, bend, sit, and stand
  • Dexterous with small components, hand tools and simple power tools
  • Must be able to sustainably lift up to 25lbs in a range of motions
  • Lift and handle up to 50lbs infrequently

Education and Certifications Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
  • 1+ years of production experience (preferred)
