Job Description & Requirements

The National Sales Director at Buck Knives is responsible for achieving the annual commercial sales revenue budget, and for leading and driving the performance of the company’s inside and outside sales organization. The right person will be a seasoned sales leader who can develop, lead, and retain a strong sales organization filled with strong performers who work as a team to achieve the company’s long-term revenue growth and profit goals.  Reporting directly to the President as part of the Executive Team, this role will lead the company’s strategies to sell products in all commercial channels including Big Box (Walmart, Menard’s, Tractor Supply, etc.) Outdoor Specialty (Bass Pro / Cabela’s, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Scheel’s), Independent Retail / Buy Groups, Distributors, Specialty Accounts, and International Accounts.  The position will be located at Buck Knives’ headquarters and manufacturing facility in Post Falls, Idaho.

The National Sales Director performance metrics will include meeting or exceeding channel sales revenue and profitability targets, increasing and improving customer service, and developing depth in the talent bench to drive strategic business initiatives.  Administratively, the role will be capable of quantifying and reporting sales and profitability performance by sales channel, customer, or product line, and will be comfortable making changes if necessary to achieve performance goals.  Internally, they will monitor and drive the sales forecast, and will coordinate with Operations, Product Development, Marketing, and Sourcing departments to achieve production and inventory goals and objectives that align with the company’s financial goals. 


Qualifications

  • Must have a strong record of accomplishment and over ten years of successful sales leadership at branded consumer products manufacturers, preferably in the outdoor / sporting goods industry.  Experience in cutlery or tools strongly preferred.
  • Must be a hands-on sales leader who is willing to travel up to 40% of the time, while maintaining a strong and influential presence at headquarters.
  • Must have experience working closely with a broad spectrum of retail customers, including large national chains, brick-and-mortar and online retailers, and independent dealers.
  • Must be able to set goals and priorities, able to leverage resources to accomplish the mission with a willingness to be an advocate for their team
