Retail Store Manager
Role Overview
The Store Manager will lead the retail sales team in providing exceptional customer experiences with our customers at every touch point, creating brand loyalty through expert-level product and fishing recommendations, advice, and guidance on all things fishing-related – this is the ‘go to’ for finding solutions for any and all situations that may occur, with a win-win solution as the ultimate goal. The Store Manager will also guide the team in following a merchandising plan to create an exceptional looking retail floor with keeping a keen eye on neatness, cleanliness and on floor inventory levels. In this role, the Store Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store.
In addition to managing the staff and leading by example, this role will work with all types of customers, ranging from novice to advanced anglers, tourists, locals, and general outdoor enthusiasts, and will handle retail interactions, product recommendations, and post-sale activities, such as product returns and warranty needs. This role will also be involved in meeting the sales goals and managing the inventory expectations of the Main Street Store location.
Key Responsibilities and Priorities
- Responsible for daily store open/close – follows processes to ensure safe and secure location
- Responsible for daily deposits and inputting daily financial information into accounting system
- Responsible for hiring (and firing) process of retail sales employees, staff onboarding and training, and bi-annual performance reviews
- Point-person to answer staff questions and provide direction
- Responsible for scheduling and making sure store is appropriately staffed for seasonal workload expectations
- Responsible for receiving inventory into POS system in accurate and appropriate manner
- Responsible for maintaining accurate store inventory and explaining inventory variances
- Ability to apply a merchandising and marketing model to the retail sales floor
- Able to provide expert-level product knowledge to a variety of anglers, regardless of experience levels, and sell them into the right product based on their personal needs and goals and recommend appropriate care and maintenance
- Efficiently handles customer transactions in a timely manner with the highest level of accuracy
- Effectively balances a variable workload, shifting when necessary to meet the demands of customer volume and store needs
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and a store-first lead-by-example attitude
- Diligently utilizes and understands our retail POS system, guide booking system and other retail tools
- Looks for opportunities to improve overall customer experience
- Participate in company-wide, conservation, sustainability, and JEDI initiatives

Requirements:
- College degree required
- 3-5 years of experience in related field as an individual contributor
- Strong customer service experience, preferably in the outdoor industry via retail or in-house sales/service
- Full-time, in-house position, based in Bozeman, Montana
