Position 

Quality Control Supervisor

Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Engineering teams to create and facilitate systems for the control of product throughout the facility.  Lead the Quality Control Team in support of incoming and finished assembly inspection, containment of product, and periodic testing of product and assemblies.

 

Essential Functions

·         Supervise the Quality Control Technician Team by prioritizing work, assessing skills, and providing development opportunities as a key part of the Quality Organization.

·         Manage employee work schedules, time and attendance, employee review and discipline according to HR policies and applicable federal and state laws.

·         Provide leadership and ensure effective employee relations within team.

·         Organize and deploy resources for New Product Introduction to meet the needs of the Project Management Schedule.

·         Basic print reading including fundamentals of GD&T, interpreting feature control frames into measurement methods.

·         Determine Conformance of product by comparing print specification to actual measured results.  Identify print specifications which are unclear and generate engineering change requests.

·         Maintain standards that ensure the accuracy of process controls and their continuous relationship to the Document Control System.

·         Deploy resources to perform finished product performance inspection following an Acceptance Test Plan (ATP).

·         Facilitate the containment and disposition of nonconforming material. Ensure nonconforming material reports are completed correctly prior to material release. Recommend and implement improvements to the containment system.

·         Basic operation of metrology equipment including Caliper, Micrometer, Pin Gage, Drop Indicator, Optical Comparator, Profilometer, CMM, Vision based metrology, Spectrophotometer and Custom Gaging.

·         Ensure measurement equipment calibration and preventative maintenance schedules are being met on time.

·         Manage the workload and deadlines for the Product Test Request queue and library.

·         Develop a culture of meaningful specifications, control limits, and measurement methods that translates through to production operators and assemblers.

·         Create Quality Systems SOPs, Work Instructions, and Gage Operating Procedures (GOPs) and in support of advanced production operations.

·         Deploy resources to support quality function in manufacturing value streams.

·         Determine development needs of employees and coordinate training.

·         Generate reports on quality issues, process controls, and failure rates to leaders and management. Summarize and present findings on a periodic basis. Develop metrics and reporting functionality.

·         Support all production value streams when quality issues arise.  Perform basic maintenance and repair on measurement equipment following work instructions. Support troubleshooting efforts with quality assurance technicians.

 

Experience and Education Requirements

·         Associate degree in engineering or related field, and five years of work experience in a high volume manufacturing environment or ten years of work experience in a high volume manufacturing environment required.

·         Five or more years of leadership experience.

·         Five or more years of experience in Quality.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of gage calibration and maintenance, hand measurement tools, visual inspection standards, destructive and non-destructive testing, CMM and optical measurement.

·         Ability to interpret 2D prints an 3D models utilizing current GD&T standards.

·         Demonstrated understanding of engineering statistics, process capability, and statistical process control.

·         Advanced experience with MS Excel and Minitab preferred.

·         Problem solving skills, ability to apply DMAIC and use basic quality tools such as cause and effect diagrams, process flow maps, check sheets, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, control charts, and histograms.

·         Demonstrated leadership capability with cross-function teams.

·         Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail.

·         Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

·         Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative.

·         Effectively prioritize projects and tasks for team members to suit the needs of the organization.
