You will use your experience in and knowledge of strategy and partner with a category marketing associate to become the core of a merchant team for this category of hunting apparel.    This team will provide the direction and focus of our product driven organization within the category by exercising sound analysis and judgment, influencing the thinking of others, and managing relationships with our key vendors and other associates to create the best hunting apparel in the world.
 
The ideal candidate will:
    Be an experienced and passionate whitetail deer hunter  
    Have experience in and excitement for the marketing of high-performance hunting gear
    Have experience taking consumer insights through the commercialization process and executing at retail
    Be skilled at integrating a diverse group into a cohesive team focused upon achieving a singular objective

Responsibilities include:
    Collaborating with internal and external partners to understand the target consumer and tracking metrics to evaluate our effectiveness in reaching that consumer
        Using consumer research, consumer focus groups and business analysis to understand the competition, consumer segmentation & positioning
    Being one of the primary members of the category merchant team
        Collaborating with the Product Manger to create the 3-year strategic plan for the category
        Creating unmet need consumer gap analysis
    Designing and leading the execution of the rolling 18-month marketing plan tied to the category business plan. This includes:
        Writing creative briefs, helping to manage the creative development timeline, process, and brand budgets, while protecting & developing brand voice across all consumer touch-points   
        Partnering with Sitka.com and Sitka retail marketing to win in-store and online.
        Assisting the sales team and retail marketing teams with materials needed for major account presentations/sell-ins/retail execution
        Aligning internal associates across product, sales, marketing and other cross-functional partners (i.e. serve as a liaison between Product and overall Marketing team ensuring all marketing touch points have the information they need to execute effectively)
 
Qualifications
    Four year business degree
    An experienced and passionate whitetail deer hunter
    Minimum of 5 years of consumer marketing experience with at least 2 years experience as a category marketing manager. This includes:
        Experience leveraging market research, opportunity-assessment tools, project reviews, and stage-gate development processes to critically analyze business opportunities and/or new product/applications and determine value and complexity  
        Experience creating and executing go-to-market strategies
    Proven experience leading people and/or projects from ideation through launch
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Excellent teaming, influencing, and interpersonal skills proven to effectively collaborate internally and externally
    Creative, proven self-starter
    Ability to:
        Adapt and change direction/approach when necessary  
        Effectively collaborate internally and externally
        Navigate early-stage development when working with limited data
        Work reliably with remote team members
    Ability to travel up to 40%

Desirable Job Qualifications
    Marketing degree
    Prior experience:
        working with premium consumer goods
        developing or marketing technical outerwear
        working in the hunting or fishing channel
        managing external agencies.
